OUR GROUP CLASSES

Intro Level – Introduction to Classical Pilates

Intro Level Class is the perfect starting point for anyone new to Classical Pilates or to our studio. In this small-group session, you’ll be introduced to the original Pilates system as created by Joseph Pilates — learning the foundational exercises, apparatus, set up and principles that form the base of the method. This session ensures you build a safe and strong foundation before continuing to Level 1 classes.

Level 1 – Building the Powerhouse

This foundational class focuses on developing the “powerhouse” — the deep core muscles that support every movement in Pilates. You will learn the essential exercises and principles while building strength, control, and body awareness. Open to all levels, this class is the starting point for your Pilates journey. You need to complete our Intro Package (3 private sessions) or 3 Intro Classes before joining this class.

Level 1–2 Deepening Your Powerhouse

At this basic-to-intermediate level, you will continue to strengthen your powerhouse and refine your technique. Building on the foundation from Level 1, the exercises become more challenging and require greater precision, control, and flow. A minimum of 5-10 Level 1 classes (or teacher recommendation) is required before joining this class.

Level 2 – Strength and Flow

An intermediate class designed for those with a solid foundation in Classical Pilates. This level emphasizes strength, stamina, and seamless transitions, creating a dynamic and flowing workout. To join Level 2, you must be confident and strong in the basics. A minimum of 5-10 Level 1-2 classes (or teacher recommendation) is required before joining this class.

WHAT TO KNOW

I'm new to Classical Pilates – how do I get started? Welcome! All new clients without background in Classical Pilates begin with our 3-Class Intro Package or 3 intro classes, which introduces you to the Pilates method, apparatus, set up and core principles. Your instructor will guide you safely and personally, helping you build a strong foundation before joining Level 1 group classes. You can easily book your intro sessions through our online schedule.

Before Your Visit We look forward to welcoming you to The Studio Helsinki. To help you make the most of your session, please take a moment to read through a few important details: – Arrival: Our doors remain locked until 10 minutes before class. Your instructor will let you in at that time — thank you for arriving punctually, but not too early. – Hands-on Teaching: Our classes are hands-on and personalized. Gentle physical guidance is an essential part of how we help you move more efficiently and understand each exercise on a deeper level. – Filming & Phones: Out of respect for everyone’s privacy and focus, filming and phone use are not permitted during classes. – Cancellations: We kindly ask that any cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance. Each session at The Studio Helsinki is an opportunity to connect with your body, breath, and focus — we can’t wait to share this experience with you.

What should I wear or bring? Please wear comfortable, form-fitting clothes without zippers or buttons to allow free movement and to protect the apparatus. Socks are required for hygiene and comfort during your session. You don’t need to bring much with you — we provide small towels, as well as water, tea, and coffee at the studio for your comfort.

I’m pregnant or injured — can I attend your classes? If you are pregnant or recovering from an injury, we require you to take private sessions. This allows your instructor to tailor the exercises specifically to your body’s needs and ensure you move safely and effectively. Classical Pilates can be highly beneficial during pregnancy and recovery when taught with individual attention and care. Please let us know about your situation before booking, so we can guide you to the most suitable option.

Do you offer gift cards? Yes — we offer gift cards for all our classes and packages. A beautiful way to share the experience of Classical Pilates with someone you care about. Gift cards can be purchased directly through our booking system or by contacting us at The Studio Helsinki.

OUR LOCATION

You’ll find us at Merikatu 1, a beautiful street-level studio with street parking and easy access by public transport.

For the comfort and safety of our clients, we keep our doors locked during sessions — ring the doorbell, and your instructor will let you in up to 10 minutes before your class.
